Have you selected the right AV input on the VCR otherwise you could have the scart hooked up but the VCR is looking at the wrong input.
As for the RF connection that may be down to the digibox RF frequency not matching the frequency of the VCR channel number you have selected so either get the VCR to rescan the frequency list (while the digibox is on) or manually check the frequency assigned for both devices.

My brain is dribbling out my ears trying to visualise that:)

It's best to start from the basics.
Connect the SKY VCR scart to the input scart on the VCR and then connect the output VCR scart to the television scart.
Turn the digibox on, select the appropriate AV input on the VCR and then select the appropriate AV input on the TV, you should see the digibox video output.

If that works then there really is no need to have the terrestrial aerial cable routed through the digibox, you can plug it straight into the VCR and then onto the TV.
The digibox TV scart would then feed the TV directly giving you a better picture (RGB instead of composite) and leaving the VCR to either record the digibox output or record any of the terrestrial channels via the rooftop aerial.
