Do any of you guys know if I can download something saved on my Sky harddrive to my Panny harddrive recorder without having to watch it - in other words while watching another sky programme.
Ive had both for years and assumed it can't be done but thought i'd ask

I don't believe you can. You have to decode the programme from the Sky+ HD and the only way to do that is to play it.

Of course - if they were to enable those USB's on the 160 box......but would a USB be capable of handling that much data? Wouldn't it need a firewire? (I am technically illiterate so if this makes no sense.....)

Says in the instruction manual that its done in real time, so you need to leave it alone whilst its copying across.

    Thanks guys,
I was sure that was the situation but a "pub expert" was claiming that using the "copy" facility also allowed it to be sent through another outlet to the Panny while allowing Sky to be viewed as normal.
I'd experimented but couldn't make it happen, but thought I'd check on the forum

The copy facility will control a VHS or DVD recorder which has Smartlink, but that's about it. When the Sky box is playing out pre-recorded stuff, you can't do anything else because there's only one decoder in the box.
