Had my Sky+(Pace V1) installed yesterday and need some help.I want to record to my DVDR75 occasionally so I connected it via a scart lead but the picture is in black and white. The DVD is connected to a Yammy 757 via a scart to svhs cable so the video output is set to S-video.If I toggle this it makes no difference.I can record via the amp but would prefer to do it directly.Come people where am I going wrong?

I think you'll find that the scarts sockets on the Pace don't support s-video. There is an s-video socket on the back.

    A diagram may help.

It sounds like the SKY+ is feediing RGB to the DVD recorder which is then passing through the signal via it's scart socket but there is no conversion going on when set to s-video hence the B&W picture.

    Here goes-

A Yamaha 757 is connected to the plasma via component.
The Pace is connected to the amp via S-video and Digi optical link.
The DVDR75 is also connected to the amp via Scart to S-video.
I then used a scart cable from the Pace scart(vcr) to the DVDR scart.
On the DVD menu I changed the video output to S-video.Even if alter this to RGB it makes no difference to the recording.

So the SKY+ s-video to the amp which then converts internally to component is ok on your display?

The DVDR scart is configured to output s-video which the amp is then expecting and it can itself convert s-video to component?

The SKY+ VCR scart is Composite only so perhaps the DVDR is tripping up as it expects RGB? So swap the scart cable from the VCR scart socket to the TV scart socket on the SKY+ and making sure RGB is selected try that.

Sounds like you might have a faulty s-video cable. S-video carries the b&w information on one wire, and the colour information on the other. If the colour wire or plug is broken, you only get b&w. Make sure that you haven't got a bent or broken pin.

P.S. Great amp ! I'm thinking of trading up my RXV640 for one !

Starburst, you are correct on both points, everything displays correctly on the screen.I,ll swap the scart on the Pace and see if it works(tho I may tried that cant remember).
    Cheers.
Nick_UK,I'm using a scart cable between the Pace and DVDR which I know is fine.As for the Amp I am very pleased with it but if you can still get a 750 they are virtually the same and alot cheaper.

Unbelievable, after all the messing about I,ve realised that although the recording is B&W on the DVDR75 if I swap the disk to my Pio 575 its in colour  and worse still the PQ is not as good as it is if I record thru the S-Video on the amp so the last few hours has been a waste of time :suicide: but thanks for the input Nick_UK and Starburst.

Just one more problem still involving the DVDR75.Anything played on the DVDR thru the amp displays in 4.3 even tho 16.9 is selected in the menu.Would this be because the video output is S-video or could it be down to the cable.

I,m sure your now aware I,m not the most knowledgeable here.
