THere a Competition Appeals Tribunal held today in relation to BSkyB's SKY Sports pricing. Ofcom currently control the pricing offered to other service providers, but SKY dispute this and are attempting to have it overruled.
BSkyB have waited more than two years to find out whether its attempt to overturn Ofcom's order to slash the amount it charges rivals to offer its flagship Sky Sports channels has been successful. This dates back to March 2010 when Ofcom ordered Sky to reduce the amount it charges rivals for Sky Sports 1 and 2 by more than 20%.
If you're annoyed at the present pricing then you're not going to be happy about soon to come unrestricted price increases.
BSkyB wins appeal against Ofcom over Sky Sports wholesale prices
BSkyB has won its appeal against Ofcom's decision to force the company to cut the amount it charges rivals to show its flagship Sky Sports channels.
In a summary judgment handed down after the London stock market closed on Wednesday, the Competition Appeal Tribunal has ruled that Ofcom's core competition concern about the way the pay-TV broadcaster sold its sports channels wholesale to competitors was "unfounded".
This is the final straw for me.Love sport on the telly but fed up with prima donna`s kicking a ball about during what has become pretty much a non contact sport. Sky should rename to Sky football 1,Sky football 2,Sky football 3 and Sky football 4. Every other sport plays 2nd or 3rd fiddle. We`ve just had a great Olympics so what an oportunity to show other sports on a regular basis, eg. table tennis,BMX,even archery!
But no, it will be the Premiership, the Scottish league, La Liga, then the repeats the following day. Then the studio discussions by so called experts...ad nauseum. GOODBYE Sky Sports, that`s nearly £400 back in my pocket next year.
