I recently got back from Australia and shipped my Samsung LCD back. The tv does not have Scart connector. The tv has 2x component and 1 x composite.

I purchased a scart convertor cable. This has both composite (3 colours) and Component (5 colours) outputs.

The composite works ok.

If I try to connect the component i get a fuzzy pinky/blue picture with sound.

Does anyone have any idea where the problem lies ?

Thanks

thanks for the quick reply.

So what are my options ? Is the only choice a composite picture ?

Some stbs optionally output component from a scart connection instead of RGB it's these devices your passive cable is designed to work with.

You need an active RGB to component converter like this one on ebay

J S TECHNOLOGY RGB TO COMPONENT CONVERTER JS TECH on eBay (end time 18-Oct-09 18:44:24 BST)

No Svid socket on the TV ?
As graham has said , you need a converter of some sort . The JS on has had a very good rep for a very long time. But others are available.

Do you use and AV amp ? it may have upconvert capabilities

there is a 4pin svid socket. Is that better than the composite?

i dont use any Amp.

Yes s-video is better as it keeps the luminance and chrominance signals seperate.
