Hi all, been waiting for a while now for the damn pedestal stand to restock for the 42" viera ;o( now thinking of changing my order to a panny TH-42PWD6.

just wondering which would give me the better quality pic from a sky+ box, scart or s-video?
need to know if its worth getting a s-vid module for the panny or just stick with the free scart.

    cheers, spook

try geting a good quality scart. The ones you get with sky are OK but a good quality shielded one should make a difference

    Cheers

RGB Scart without a shadow of a doubt! You should ensure a good quality cable - QED offer a good compromise between price/performance.

The QED AV41 is the best choice but does not carry audio should you need that:

...second best choice is the QED AV21 (which is a normally, high quality Scart that carries audio and video):

You could spend more but, frankly, the PQ on Sky is not sufficient to make it worthwhile.

RGB SCART output from Sky + is better than S-Video. While S-Video is good, RGB is better. However, there are some other ways to connect Sky to a PWD6 which will give even better picture quality. Using the RGB to Plasma VGA unit will give you a very sharp and clean picture.

    All the best,

    Dr John Sim.

With the viera RGB scart is the way to go. If you change to a PW6, and why don't you incidentally, you've already got the perfect plasma TV tuner, why do you need another?, The cleanest picture available is with one of Dr. Sims' RGB to VGA converters, though if you also have a AV amp that switches component video, you might prefer to use one of the YUV converters instead, for convenience of use. There is virtually no difference in picture quality between these devices, and both are way superior to the panasonic scart video board.
