Having just upgraded to plasma the shortcomings of my 5-6 year old sky receiver are clearly obvious.

Two questions for the esteemed members of the forum:

1/ have the receivers improved over the years?

2/ what advice on the best receiver available today?

    Thanks.

Well the biggest advantage of getting a new digibox is the speed of the menus and interactive systems which makes the system far more user friendly. There may be some PQ improvments but more likely you'll see differences if you switch makes of digibox.

If you have the spare cash get yourself a Scaler/De-Interlacer and let that process the SKY D output and then feed your Plasma display.
Check out the Plasma forum, plenty of wise advice found on there:)

After purchasing a 42" plasma, I upgraded to Sky+. Picture quality is excellent. Also numerous other benefits compared to original Sky service.

Sky's website was doing this for £199 with £1 installation, last month. Not sure if offer is still on though.
There is no longer an additional £10 monthly charge, as long as you subscibe to 2 premium channels. Which most people do anyway.
