Hi,
Can anyone shed some light? does the sky+ box have 'S' out?
or give me a link to the info?

Thanks David

It sure does! And it works at the same time as the RGB scart, too!

Thanks Xeonic, just one other point is it through the scart socket or a seperate 'S' connector?
My buying one of these boxes depends upon this outcome! LOL

Thats great, thanks both of you.

Now to decide if the £10 per month on top of the £250 is really worth it or just another rip off? LOL

Ive got sky+ and cannot obtain a picture/sound when i connect it to my panasonic th42w4b plasma via rgb scart(sky+ output) to component / composite imputs on the plasma (ixos 5 rca). The only way i can get a picture is with standard s-video to s-video.
Is it a fault with the sky signal output or the reccomended ixos cable. When i leave the scart to 5 rca cable connected then connect the s-video to s-video the picture works on component mode???
Any help would help? Cheers Danny-p

If you're saying that you've connected STB to plasma using a cable with SCART at one end and 5RCAs at the other, then no wonder you've got no picture!

You need to get an RGB to component converter to do this. Although it's confusing, with the term 'RGB' being used in conjunction with both RGB scart and the signal carried by component leads, they are not one in the same.

An example of a suitable converter is given in the link below
Lektropacks RGB scart to component

av junky cheers for the link.

BTW i didnt make that ixos rgb scart to 5 rca cable in my garage at home i was reccommended it by the guys at 7oaks where i bought my arcam dv27 dvd player. They said this would work fine with the arcam (which it does) and with your sky+ "Providing it is RGB compatable" (which it is).
Dont get me wrong the cable does work fine in component mode when you leave the s-video connected .... which must be using the s-video a an extra sync or somthing.

(sky+)
When connecting s-video to s-video (sky+ to plasma) there is small interfearance with the picture.
This is using a £5 cable... would buying a top of the range (qed, ixos etc ) cable eliminate this or is the intefearance from the back of the plasma in.
Dont get the wrong idea the picture is good just text has specks of blur flickers and as you know plasmas are very good at picking up a bad signal and showing it up well!

Apologies danny-p. It wasn't until I read throught some of the info on the link that I found out about some Panny plasmas accepting RGBS via direct cable connections. That was a new one for me. No offence intended

However, it does still sound like a connection problem. As you say, could be a synch issue.

Could be an idea to post in the Plasma and LCD forum, to try and find a fellow owner who's used the same connections.

Also, if you haven't seen it yet, there is a post in the Progressive Scan forum from someone else having trouble getting RGB through to his plasma. Could be worth a look?
