Should I be able to use my old sky remote to operate my Sky + box?

I bought one of those upstairs remotes - that works through the coax aerial lead. It works with the sky+ remote but not the sky remote. The reason I assume it should is that on the box it came with a sky normal remote and says it'll work with both sky and sky+ ?

If the answer is a simple "no" then can anyone reccomend a place to get a sky+remote (can't be arsed with learning remotes till I get proper setup) cheaply?

    Cheers

You can order one from Sky. They are £20 including postage, I think. Mine took about 3 days to arrive.

David - I have one of those 'magic eyes' also... very good. In answer to your question, yes you can use the standard sky remote but you will only be able to use the channel + / - buttons. There is a sequence of keys on the remote you need to enter to activate it and unfortunately, I can't remember what it is, however, I got it from these forums originally so a search through the archives should reveal all.
