There does not seem to be a special way of opening it up....I had much the same problem with mine. Two of the plastic 'clips' snapped off the top end of mine when I eventually got it off....fortunately it has not affected it at all as the black rubber cover still grips ok. The worry is that if your clips snap like mine, they may go inside the remote and you'll never get them out unless you take it to bits. You might be left with a remote that rattles. Only one went in for me, but I was incredibly lucky and it came out after a couple of shakes. You'll just have to be really careful.

Mines very stiff to get off  .

Have to push the clip as mentioned above , and push the cover from the bottom of the remote at the same time . Even then it can take a few goes

    Good Luck

There's a real knack to this. It's easy once you figure it out.

Put remote on your thigh buttons down, black rubbery bit facing your kneecap.
Grap black bit with your hand while pulling the clip towards you with your index finger.
Pivot the cover off by pulling up on the rubber bit.
Help with your other hand if required.

    Works for me anyway

Just did it!!! Pushed really hard (and i mean finger nail breaking hard) on the clip and upwards from the bottom of the remote at the same time!

Thank you all for your replies - much appreciated!!! Gald i'm not the only one who's had difficulties with this.

p.s. Was about to get out my saw!!

Yep, I had the same problem getting into the Sky+ remote & yes I did break both those damn 'clips' off  I have also found that the battery connections are rusty (must have spilt a drink on it at sometime :thumbsdow ) SO..... does anybody know where to get a replacement Sky+ remote cheaply?

I spent nearly an hour one evening trying to get into this remote, and ended up getting so annoyed that I broke off the clips as well  I sent an email to Sky asking if they could make it a bit more difficult to get into for the next model as I felt I was not spending enough of my life trying to change the batteries ;)

Letsautomate.com do them for £13.13 + P & P, Satcure do them for about £18, and I'm sure I've also seen them in Focus DIY, but they might have just been Sky ones (not sure). Many of the "One For All" remotes will control Sky+ boxes.
