I canceled my sky subscription to-day and was suprised to be told that I would lose my facility to record on the sky+ box unless I paid £10 per month to do this.I always new that this was the case for automatic recording, but I thought that manual recording was still available even when not subscribing to Sky

All "plus" functionality - ie recording, live pause (which is just 'recording' under a different name), enhanced planner etc. costs £10 per month unless your basic subscription costs more than £30 per month.

Cancel your subs and refuse the £10 "plus" fee, and your "plus" box becomes a regular Sky box.
