I searched the Sky+ Manual but couldn't see anything that clarified this.

Can you record a program on the Sky+ box at the same time as viewing a recorded program?

Anyone tried this, does it work or not and what happens if you try it?

    Regards
    Barry

    Yes you can.
Quicker to just try it than posting and waiting for a reply here:)

Basically that is what Live Pause does, recording the channel as you watch data that was recording earlier.

I didn't want to break anything by trying it :)

I had accidentally tried the Live Pause whilst recording something else and it worked OK, I just wasn't sure if the box could cope with playback and record at the same time.

I wil give it a try tonight.

    Regards
    Barry

You found something more than record and play! When you record and live pause, the + box is actually recording two streams at once.. this beg the obvious question, that with the two connections, it should be possible to "record A, watch B and record B" at sometime in the future, possibly with a software update.

I'll be interested to see if the hardware/software can keep up with that amount of loading!

I have heard that this is one of the future software upgrades.

    Cheers,

Well obviously it can! It does this already when you live pause, whilst you are recording something else.
