I'm sorry if this has been covered before but I've just been listening to Classic FM on Sky + and I am amazed at the sound quality.
    I have 2 questions.
    1) What is the transmission format (Mpeg 2?)
    2) What is the bitate and is there anyway I can find out the bitrate of a given radio channel?]

    Thanks!

Does this mean that sky+ will give as good (if not better) radio reception than a DAB tuner? In some cases the bitrate seems to be better for sky!
Of course I am using the optical out.

Digital satellite does on average have higher bitrates than DAB, I suspect the carriage is cheaper and there is a hell of a lot more of it so broadcasters don't have to use lowbitrates on Dsat like they do on DAB. DTT should also produce good quality audio although has fewer radio channels due to the limits of the platfrom.

DAB in my opinion has been a total let down quality wise.
