Hi, i`m looking at getting sky, I tried phoning them but after half an hour holding the line i got fed up and figured I`d get less biased answers here. Anyway my questions are:

what video outputs do the boxes have? I`m going for the standard sky box.

What audio outputs do the boxes have?

Sky say they have 5.1 support. Is this only on the movie channels and pay per view or do films on normal channels, say sci fi for instance, use it too?

Do the boxes only come in white or can you get them in black?

    Thanks

video outputs .. composite, svhs and scart
audio ouputs .. analogue only unless sky+ then optical as well
5.1 support is only for sky movies and you must have sky+ and be using a digital optical cable for this

Ordinary Sky boxes do not have s-video outputs, only Sky+

Great, thanks for the help. When you say scart is it RGB scart? I`m thinking or getting a panny pwd8 plasma and want to get the best possible picture quality.

the 5.1, if i did go for sky+ would this be available on the pay per view movies?

And lastly can you get the sky box in black? or is it white only?

    cheers

The TV out scart is RGB, the VCR is composite, but will pass RGB through as an iput. There is no 5.1 on pay per view movies and you can't get the box in black which is a real pain

I think it depends which deal you go for......but either way painting would probably invalidate any warranty or support agreements
