Is there any real difference between having Sky+ and having Sky together with a PVR of your own choosing? Would I be accurate thinking that Sky+ is basically Sky bundled with a PVR?

Can you record one Sky channel and watch another with a PVR ?

Can you record two prorammes at once, and play back a recording at the same time ?

Can you set a PVR to record one episode of a soap, and then automatically record every other episode, even if the start time changes ?

    You can with Sky+

The key to SKY+ is integration.

The ease of use is made possible by having the EPG directly feeding the recording sub-system which in turn is directly tied to the digital tuners which allows perfect recording of the broadcast bitstream.
Those two features make the SKY+ head and shoulders over a SKY digibox connected via scart to a HD based recorder or even HTPC.

TIVO is the only true PVR and even that would benefit from having SKY or NTL/TW digital tuners/decoders integrated into it's hardware as it is in the US with DirecTV units.
