Sky Q mini box and Xbox connected to monitor with 1 x HDMI & 1 x DP with sound output through soundbar. Does this sound right?

My brother has a monitor (Samsung Odyssey G5) which he intends to connect to a Sky Q mini box, and an Xbox Series X to. The monitor has no speakers - it is connected via 3.5mm to a soundbar.

The monitor only has 1 x HDMI (2.0) and 1 x DisplayPort (1.4). Due to the Xbox's limitations it has to be connected HDMI to HDMI, so the Sky Q mini box will have to be connected via HDMI to DisplayPort.

He obviously wants the sound from the Xbox and the Sky Q mini box to come through the soundbar (via the monitor). I know this is fine through purely HDMI to HDMI, but I'm not sure if this will work through a HDMI to DisplayPort cable for the Sky Q mini box?

Should this be fine? If not, is there a solution here so that the the soundbar will work through the monitor to output the audio signals from both the Xbox and the Sky Q mini box?
