So... I've recently replace my main TV for OLED TV so my Sony XD93 is attached to a Sky Q mini box thing outputting at 1080p.

Which is fine, but can I get the Sony to upscale to 4k?

Your sky Q mini box can only output 1080p but in reality sky only broadcast at 1080i all tvs have built in upscaling technology... Some work better then others..

Thanks, I know that - but I can't get 4k at all from the Sky box. Everything else i.e. 4k blu ray, amazon, netflix etc. are 4k. Just the Sky box. I'll post something in the Sony forums.

All those others are 4K sources though right?

What do you expect to see from the Sky Q mini?

Correct all other sources are 4k, just wondering if I can get the panel to upscale the 1080p/i from Sky to 4k?

I'm not familiar with Sony, but is there a mode you have to enable on the HDMI input... like UHD Plus or something?

You are not missing anything. All upscaling does is makes a lower resolution picture fill the screen. It is done automatically (otherwise you would see a picture taking up a quarter of the screen at most).
Your confusion I suspect is that the info banner on the TV still says 1080. That is relating to the incoming signal resolution, not what the TV is displaying. Rest assured, just by plugging the mini box into the TV you are getting an upscaled picture

What are you expecting upscaling to do?

    Cos it’s doing it already.

Or your 1920x1080 image would only fill a quarter of the screen

Sure there are better and worse upscaling chips/algorithms but most 4k TVs do it just as well as a SkyQ box.

You’re confused. As mentioned above your TV is automatically upscaling to 4k. It will upscaling anything you feed it to 4k. Otherwise your picture wouldn’t fill the whole screen.

What may be confusing you is pressing the info button shows the input signal RECEIVED and not displayed.
