Sky+ Problem

Hi,

I seem to have a problem with my Sky+ box. Well at least I think it is a problem.

It doesn't happen all of the time but it is very, very annoying when it does.

Before I start I have checked all my connections and everything is in place. Leads and cables are fine as far as I can see.

The problem...

Part One - Changing Channel

When I change channel the sky signal comes through ok but for a few seconds it seems to flash black on the screen if you understand what i mean?

I turn the channel and I see the picture i wanted...after a second the screen goes black for a second...then the picture comes back...then it goes black again...them the picture comes back...etc etc.

This happens for about 2 or 3 seconds.

The programme still plays as normal but it is like some frames of the programme are being replaced by a black screen

Part Two - Recorded Programmes

The same things happens at above but at random intervals when watching a recorded show.

Sometimes it will last for about 10 seconds.

The program continues to play through but it is almost like frames or segments are just being cut out.

I know it isn't a problem with the Mini Dish as I got 2 boxes fitted at once and the other box does not have this problem.

The box is about 3 or 4 months old and is a white Thomson Box - DSI 8210

Anyone got any ideas what is wrong or know how to fix it?

Thanks
Simon

What kind of TV are you connected to?
Make sure from System setup you are set to RGB and 16:9.
It could be the auto aspect function of your TV getting confused.
If you are connected to a CRT try disabling scart control in the System Set-up.

Connected to a Samsung LCD HDTV

Have got the system set up as suggested...i think the box may just be buggered.

1. I would still try turning scart control off.
If that doesn't work then try a different scart lead.
Then try the sky box on a portable or something.
