And now I find out that new customers can get the offer but not existing.

Anyone know if I was to cancel my existing subscription and place anew one (after removing the dish) Could I then class myself as a new customer.

Dont see any reason why not other than the fact you will probably have to wait at least a month:(

No, Sky would have a record of your details as a previous ( or existing ) subscriber. You may find they bill you later.
Obviously if you move house it's different but otherwise they will know.

surely sky would rather give you the offer than lose a subscriber?

when u go to the website at first it says £1 for standard instalation then when you get onto the page where you want to buy it,it says £1 instalation for new box and relocation of other box only(which i dont want)
i rang sky and said how unfair i thought it was that new customers that havent give sky a penny get standard instalation for £1,but those that have been with them from the begining have to pay £50 for standard instalation,,,she was very apologetic and said they have been trying to put the offer through but the system wont let them as it ended midnight thursday,i told her i wouldnt bother and said goodbye......

    then bout an hour later......

i was watching corrie and the phone rang,it was the sky lady, she said that she had been trying to find a way round it and offered me instalation £1 but said that i had to have my old box relocated to get it at this price, but i said surely i have to take out another subscription for the 2nd box she said yes but there is no 12 month contract on the 2nd subscription, she said take it out for 1 month(£10) then cancel it
i said ide think about it and shes gonna call me back next week

is this right that i have to take out a 2nd subscription on the relocated box or was she just trying to make it sound good???????????

so it looks like i could get sky+ for £210,but not sure if i want the box relocating with wires across the house for just a month, suppose i could just pay the £210 and tell the engineer not to bother

"Relocate existing box" may sound like you have to use it, but you don't. They will just install another cable to your quad LNB. You can run it wherever you like in the house (Kitchen? bedroom?). It's not as useless as it seems; you can still watch free channels after you stop subscribing. Don't forget that with an amplifier and speakers, your old sky box (off contract) makes the highest quality radio you can get.

If the engineer is at all nice, he will run a double cable for you. Could simply be to the other end of living room in case you have a change round.

Rang Sky+ and they wouldn't budge...will not do it for a £1...It's really p*ssed me off as I have been on a premium package for over 2 years! Maybe I should get it removed! but I can't imagine life without

I know someone else has said that sky advised them that there was no 12 month contract on the 2nd subscription and as such could be cancelled after 1 month, making the cost £210.

But having had a similar discussion with them they are telling me the opposite that there is a 12 month contract for both of the subscriptions. Making the cost £320 and uneconomical against the £250 main cost.

Anyone else discussed this with them, and got the finite answer.

Presumably you would need to cancel your existing subscription first before you could try this? That way they would "assume" that you had moved out...?

I would have thought they would see from their records that you are an existing customer if you attempted to do this with a second subscription?

I may have misunderstood you so correct me if I'm wrong... :)

    Yes.
The mirror sub can then only be cancelled within the minimum term if the original subscription is cancelled at the same time (assuming you've met the minimum term for that sub as well).

I've just ordered sky+ this morning for £99 plus £1 installation...it is going to be installed this Saturday...result! I'm also an existing customer with a standard sky box.

I phoned 0870 2423256 and quoted ref number USKPBTAA...and had no problems. Existing box will be left with me, as I own it, and didn't want installation in another room. That would have been free, with only an extra £10 subs fee.

    Cheers,

I assume you mean £199 and not £99.

Is this for new equipment ?

Also how did you get the install so quick, i have been told that even if you order now, it wouldn't be installed till mid jan

No...I mean £99!! It's ex demo kit refurbed up to current standard with 12 month warranty. Apperently they've got about 1500 to get rid of, but they are going quick. If you phone that number and quote that reference number, you'll get one. Gave the phone number and ref number to a colleague after I did mine this morning, and he's getting installation this Saturday as well!

    Give it a go!!

    Cheers,

    CliveG
