Weve just had our new sky plus HD box installed and weve moved the old sky plus box to a different room as it has loads of kids stuff recorded on the hard drive. We presumed it would just work with no sky prescription but it doesnt seem to - is there any way we can get around it without paying for multiroom? as it would need a new fone line installing aswell.

In short no.

The box has to have a viewing card inserted which is paired up with that specific unit. Sky will send out a signal which enables the Sky+ (recording/playback) facilities on that unit. They will of course want to charge you a multi-room fee of £10 per month.

..... which is a bargain, since enabling the Sky+ recording on its own would cost £10 a month with no channel package.
