Hi all,

I have a problem that im not sure what to do with.

I have sky plus and most of the time my signal 2 is about 90-95% strength and quality, however the same with my signal 1 varies and is never the same as signal 2.

I do live is spain but this shouldnt make any difference, should it?

Ive changed the signal cables around several times but no difference.

What can i do.

Regards...

Are you having any picture problems or lots of failed recordings? If your not then I wouldn't worry about it.

When the weather isnt very good we sometimes have picture problems and occasionally have recording problems.

Could it be a problem with the box itself?

In another post the OP has already said

"I live in southern spain, have a 1.3m dish and pickup sky using my sky plus box fine....... i loose quality of signal when the weather goes back like this type of year but most of the year its a good signal."

So, maybe a larger dish may help in poor weather

The meters on the Sky box are only approximations. As DWhite says, if you have decent reception for most of the time ignore the meter readings.

Hi guys,

This problem occurs when there is good or bad signal/weather and it doesnt matter what channel i record... would swapping the hard drive solve the issue?

Hi guys,

Sorry about all these posts but i keep getting ideas when im away from the website.

What about getting a new sky plus box and where would be the best place to get one? ive heard that if you phone sky and say you want to leave that they sell you a new sky plus box at a reduced rate to keep you.. is this true, whats the best course of action?

I know for a fact that my sky box software isnt upto date but if i try a forced update and it doesnt work the box stops working, as i said im in spain and im wondering if it makes any difference?

Why would swapping the hard drive help with signal issues?

Only if you don't already have Sky+ or want mutiroom. Assuming you have a UK address to install it at, because you won't want to be telling them you are in Spain.

It does? Then there is something wrong with your box.

As I said I'm in Spain and I'm wondering if it makes any difference?
It shouldn't make any difference if you have a good signal.
If the box doesn't receive the update correctly it will give up trying and should eventually return to the previous software.

Hi,

How do i do a forced update?
how long should it take?
When is the best time to do it?
What difference will it make to my problem?

Regards
