Hi all, I have a 7yr old Sony HX850 TV which when watching the built in Freeview I have full access to the TV's picture settings and can adjust it to how I like the picture to look, however when linked to my Sky Q box all the settings are not available and I have to make do with how the Sky picture looks, which isn't the same as how I had it setup and as a result the picture quality/contrast etc looks worse

I'm looking to upgrade to an OLED TV this year and my question is to everyone...is this still what happens these days, that when watching SKY you don't have access to the TV's full picture modes/settings to get the best out of the TV ?

You will have access to the various settings when viewing Sky Q with a more modern TV.

I’ve got a 49”x8505b in the bedroom with a mini box connected if hdmi control is on the home button on the Sony remote does nothing
The way I get round it if you push the SEN button on the remote pulls up the apps then move cursor up and along to the top right you can get to the settings button
Might be the same on your tv
If you turn off hdmi control on the sky box the Sony remote works as usual on my tv anyway worth a try see if it works

Both the Home and more importantly the Options button which opens up the settings for the TV don't work while using SKY Q. The have followed what has been said above but this doesn't change anything unfortunately

Ok no worries
I think if you get into the picture settings and change this setting in the picture from current to common all sources use the picture settings which are set to how you like
so if you do that while the sky q box is not connected the settings should stay the same as your happy with when you plug it back in

I have played about with it and can now access the setting so it's all good, thanks for commenting and providing help

I think these settings came off the owners thread from here when the tv was newish
After the last picture all other settings were off
Give them a try
