Does Sky+ only have Scart out for the video signal? I know it has optical and phono out but does it have any thing like component?

Um, I can't really answer that one as I've never used S-Video. I THINK that the general feeling is that RGB Scart is the way to go.

when you say RGB scart do you mean rrgb onl and phono or optical for sound or full scart?

sorry to sound so picky but wabt to ensure best pic possible from the pio.

You're not going to see much difference in sound quality, if any, between phono and scart. If you can swing it then optical is the way to go.

    You're welcome ;)

There is very little difference in picture quality between RGB scart and s.video - RGB generally has the edge but some screens are better at handling s.video over RGB and this offsets the slight difference in signal quality.

The best thing to do is try both with your screen and see which YOU prefer

sorry to butt in but does anyone using the s-video feed from sky plus got auto switching between widescreen/4:3 material working? i have a sony kv32fq86 and i think it handles s video better as a feed but when i feed the s video in - the picture no longers auto formats (i presume scart is using one of the pins for switching) pity the sky plus doesnt output s video via scart the same way dvd players do

    cheers,
    mick

SVideo will not do the format switching unfortunatly :(

If you have a V1 Sky+ box though there is a hack to allow switching with S-Video IIRC, been a while since I read up on it though.
