HAS SKY GONE CRAZY THIS IS THE BIGGEST KICK IN THE TEETH TO ALL INDEPENDANT SKY FITTERS ive been fitting sky since the analougue srx 100 right up to date , i have a sky accredited badge from the old days fit to a high standard and do many jobs sky cant even do , now firms are getting emails from sky saying remove the sky logo from vans to websites ???? what the hell planet are they on, us private firms install hundreds of sky systems that they refuse to do because of health and safety. they are following up emails with trading standards visits and threats of heavy fines if not removed ,this will eventually effect us all. we need to all stand together and tel them were to go because us independants raise them alot of revenue in a year. Not to mention the ilegal sales of sky boxes to abroad and dodgy card activation ie spain but sky turns a blind eye to this ??? SKY is going to open up the biggest crock of ? they have ever done which will dammage their reputation ,when an independant can do what they cant .WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK FELLOW FITTERS im just BOB from wigan i no the logo is skys we all do wouldnt you pay to have your logo advertised on vans all over the country wow thats the best major advert anywere ?

There'll be a lot of agreement with the way you feel, but if anyone comments - keep it brief and to the point!

Briefly, if you are an independent, you should probably learn how to spell it. ;)
And Sky (the company) needs a capital letter.

I guess, if you want to work for them, you have to comply. I used to pay for Google adverts but received an email from Google telling me I couldn't use the word "Sky" in my adverts! So I cancelled them all. I expect Sky will be writing to Collins and Oxford next, asking them to remove the word from their dictionaries "because it's a registered trademark".

Actually, maybe we shouldn't even use it here. Can we use Sly instead?

We have a 'Grammar Police' infraction and I am not afraid to use it, FWIW.

How are people going to learn, and improve their job/career prospects, without positive correction?

Let's not get distracted from the topic. Fact is that independents are having to remove the word "Sky" from their vans so they'll presumably have to replace it with one or more much longer words such as "satellite TV installer" at their own expense. However, I can understand why Sky wouldn't want every Tom Dick and Harry impersonating their own fully-trained "engineers".
