About once a week my unit either freezes or channels drop off the EPG. All I do is turn the unit off for a minute and its ok. Is this normal or is the sky system usually fault free?

Sounds as if you may have a dish/lnb problem. If you are still within warrenty give Sky a call and book a service call. If you are out of warrenty and do not have any form of service cover the call out will cost you £65.00, but this will include all work that needs doing.

many thanks, thanks for the advice, i didn't think of that. The dish and lnb are only a few months old too. I havent got a contract with sky, just got the free to air/view card. Quality and strength are both over 80% as well?

We had the same problem as you have with the Sony box freezing. It used to do it regularly if you surfed through the channels. A lot of engineers I spoke to seemed to think it was a common problem with the Sony. In the end I got rid of it and now have Sky+, which has been problem free.
