Good news is that I don't seem to suffer any lip sync. I have Sky+ connected via scart to a Panasonic E65 DVD and the E65 connects to Denon 2105 amp with component and a separate digital audio lead.

However, the guy who installed it suggested I run a separate digital audio lead from Sky+ box to the amp. This provoked a couple of questions:

    1. Has anyone experienced lip sync problems when they run Sky+ audio directly to amp, but Sky+ video via DVD to amp?

    2. With my current set up, is the quality of sound compromised? Presumably the scart carries sound to the DVD and then the DVD send it via the digital lead - I just wondered whether a direct connection of audio from Sky+ to amp would improve things?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts / suggestions.

I found going that route via e55 that dobly digital output from sky+ was lost (i assume because the scart can't acrry the dd signal) so now go direct from sky+ to the yammy amp with digital optical....I had minor, occasional issues with lip sync at first but set the delay to 60ms on the yammy and left it there and haven't noticed any probs since

Looking really good mate, but so stacked with work I'm struggling to find time for a really good play with it all. Still, ahem, negotiating with Tenspot regarding the speakers, so will be a couple of weeks I suspect before it's all in place. Then I'll be getting my plasma out for the lads. :smashin:

This potential lip sync thing. Nigel did originally plug the red and white audio leads from Sky+ into the amp, but this caused massive lip sync problems. I'm assuming that it didn't like it because sound was coming into the amp via the scart/audio lead. I'm assuming that if I put a digital audio connection between Sky+ and the amp it will create similar issues.

Any suggestions? (other than getting a JS converter and connecting Sky+ independently to the amp)?

Cheers HD. Where do you get these boxes from - did a search and it came up with nothing!

For starters, I might have a go at taking the audio lead out of the E65 and plug it into the Sky+ to see what happens. 99% of my viewing is Sky, so quite an important one.

Thanks HD. Wow that is dear! Might just have to live without the full-on 5.1 experience from Sky (although will still get it on DVD). I'm beginning to wish I'd gone for the 2805 as that has audi delay options IIRC.

OK, quick update. I've decided to separate out the Sky+ video to the amp with a JS converter and run component into the amp. This means Sky+ audio and video will go straight to amp rather than the video going via E65, which can apparently slow things down a bit.

The added benefit is that I can do simple amp switching between DVD and Sky.

Hmm, seems like I've caught the upgrade bug already.

thats a broadcast issue and the fact that they get it wrong at their end, nothing you can do......

Irons, a Scaler well it does lots and lots of things but improve PQ is the main one by using better quality video processing to feed the plasma
