Sorry if this has been asked before. If it has, please feel free to call me stupid and point me in the right direction.

When you order Sky+ from the Sky site (1 squid installation), does the engineer or whoever phone you near the time to confirm they are coming and a rough time?

Cheers gringottsdirect...I take it that's a 'yes' about the engineer calling rather than 'yes' it's been asked before:)

    Yes :D

They should ring to agree a day, am or pm, then usually on the day the installer will ring to confirm before turning up.
If the weather is unsuitable, they will ring to book another appointment, in theory.

When they came out on a repair last week they phoned in the morning to let me know they'd be with me between 6pm & 8pm

7:20 they turned up so not only did I have a day off for nothing I also had to rearrange my evenings plans.

They should be able to offer 2.5hr appointment slots when you book it. Even BT do that.

What is classed as "unsuitable" weather? Is it a rain thing or a wind thing or the combination?

Very much depends on individual, some will work all weathers, some stay home or go to the pub / bookies if a bit chilly or rain showers.

Well, had a call this morning at 08:10 from the Sky installer to say he would be here between 12:00 and 14:00. He arrived at 11:30, plumbed everything in, and even realigned the dish as the signal level was a bit pap.

    All in all, very impressed.:D :D :D:smashin:

Installer told me they are not allowed to step of the ladder basically, he said if a roof job allowed him to stay on the cat ladder that would be OK.
