    Hi there,

I'm getting Sky+ installed later this week and am a little concerned with regards the connections. I've heard many a horror story from friends about installations and just wanted to get some advice on how best to set up thefollowing.

I've got a Sony KD28DX40U Digital TV (Changed Soon !!)
Sony Davs 550 Home Cinema DVD etc (old but still ok for me )

All i need to know is the best way for them to connect the above to the sky+ box /equipment.

According to the manual the TV has the following.

21 Pin Euro Connector (CENELEC) Including audio/video input, RGB input, TV audio/video output. (Thats a scart to me ?)

    21 Pin Euro Connector (CENELEC) Incluing audio/vieo input, S-Video input,selectable audio/vieo output.(Scart again ?)

It has Audio Outputs - Phono Jacks
    Modem Connection
    RF IN Digital
    RF IN Analogue
    RF Out

As you can tell i'm pretty new to this just want to make sure i get the best possible connection. Can the Sky be played through the 5.1 surround system ? Do they broadcast in that format ?

Cheers in advance for any help should be fine once i get my head around it ;)

A few programmes are broadcast with DD5.1.
The Sky+ Digibox has an optical output so you'll need a TOSLINK cable.

Sky+ boxes have 2 x SCART connections, of which only 1 has RGB out.
They also have 1 x s-video, 1 x optical audio out (toslink), and 2 stereo sound outputs on RCA (phono) jacks. There's also 1 aerial input, and 2 RF outputs, and (of course) 2 inputs to connect the dish.

Whether you get DD 5.1 sound will depend on the package you subscribe to, because DD 5.1 is currently only featured on Sky Movies 1, 2, and 3, and some Disney Channel programmes.
