Sky + instalation problem

Hi looking for some advice,I took the sky HD offer and sold my Sky + box to a colleague at work I went to his house to help him fit it,we bought a thomson quad LNB off ebay and I replaced the single LNB on the minidish straight swap,He already had wiring in for sky + so connected it all up and the problem is I can only get a signal on one input,I swapped the conections and the signal 2 then showed a signal,but can't seem to get two imputs showing a signal just one,I also rigged up a new cable and it still ain't working !!! any ideas please??
