Got sky digital already but I was wondering if anyone knows if sky+ plus will work over here as well?
Does it need to be connected to the phone line?
What is the extra subsrciption for?
Could I still record with it or would the only advantage be the digital output?

The extra subscription is because they can.......

I think you may be out of luck slightly. Mine wouldn't initialise until it had been plugged in to a phone line. Unable to pause live tv etc until it was initialised.

Once that was done (although I don't know if it had to phone out to do it) all was OK. I unplugged it from phone line and haven't had to plug it back in yet.

Perhaps you could get it initialised over here then sent to you.
