If, theoretically of course, our current sky deal is in the wife's maiden name, could we cancel that contract and I take out a new deal with new customer sign up bonus?

Not if you're using a joint bank account and you may have issues using the same address without any evidence that you're moving.

We did move from my name to my wife's maiden name successfully when moving house, but that was actually as much to avoid "moving" the broadband contract as to get a new deal and we did give different bank details.

We have both joint and separate accounts, believe it's coming from her personal account at the minute.

Thinking about this, I could be a named person on the account, that might not help...
