I am currently using HDMI to view sky HD and have output res set to 1080i all the time as i belive the 576p for SD material looks a little soft to me on my fujitsu (58 series) but i was wondering if i use the componant out instead would the sky box output 576i over componant as opposed to 576p through HDMI and therefore let my pannel do the deinterlacing and scalling wich i think is better than skys.

Also does the box output over HDMI and componant simulaniously so i could use HDMI for HD and componant for SD material.

am i corrected in thinking that the general concesus is that HDMI is slightly better than the componant for HD. What about for SD. Has anyone done any major conparions bettween the two?

    Thanks Skooby

Yes, the component connection will output 576i if the HDMI is not connected. Unfortunately my plasma doesn't have HDMI so I can't compare component and HDMI quality.

HDMI and Component do both output at the same time.

Although very little difference has been reported between, there is some feedback component is softer than HDMI - certainly for DH sources.

Can you use RGB? Some have reported SD better over RGB than HDMI/Component.
