The new Sky HD Website is now available.
Loads of info but no prices though.
i too just opened it at the off chance and it was up and running. bit vague on when its available ie sometime in 2006 !
still it sort of clears up some questions about what formats they support.
hmmmm have they nicked this direct from Fox? when was the last time you saw RGsB in europe.....add H/V and 720p and 1080i are supported............... but thats about the only hole i can pick in it it does say look for a CRT with the "Hd ready" logo which will be fun for lots of people in currys over the next few weeks........
cant help but feel sorry for owners of non compliant screens though!
I hope this official conformation sparks off a whole new bunch of HD ready screens to ponder.
2006 until i buy now
i'm going to be looking at the panny 8 panels in September and maybe sell one of the others
Possibly not that bright, but could someone explain why they mention 1080i/25 when all the Panny 7 HD threads I've been desperately trying to translate were referring to 1080i @ 50Hz. Is this the same thing but halved due to interlacing?
Yeah it is.
I think that it is looking brighter for people without hdcp compatible sets, it just shows that they don't want to leave anyone out.
why would they? god forbid that sky would loose any possible customers
Am I just being cynical is does it sound like Sky will make us pay for HD packages aswell as the new HD box.
I was hoping that that if you already subscribe to the premium packages then it will just be a matter of buying a new box but depending on how you read the vague information it hints at HD channle packages.
No doubt, when they finally do release the HD digi boxes it will be at a rip off price for the first 6-12 months like they always do!
I doubt Hd channels will be free, after all sky want as much of your money as possible.
You might though, get 10 minute previews at around 12:00am (don't ask me where i get this information)!
I thought that Sky had already said that there would be a £10 surcharge for HD?
Yeah, I heard that there will be a £10 montly free for HD stuff and whatever any new boxes etc costs as well
£400 for HD Box plus £10 per month.
I guess the advantage to them charging is that they will have to transmit a reasonable amount in HD from the outset (I would hope).
