Thinking about upgrading my sky to sky+, gave them a ring to ask about what happens when they change to HD.

Was told that there is no need to worry about upgrading again if i purchased sky + now becuase the HD upgrade is only a telephone one. Can this be true?

Do the sky + boxes come with HDMI etc already or is it sky talking rubbish?

I got sky+ about 8 months ago and there is no HDMI port or component port on my digibox... Get sky to put that in writing so you are covered...

    You've gotta laugh :D

The cynic in me suspects a SKY+ sale now is better than losing a sale by telling the potential customer to wait upto a year or being generous the CS rep doesn't understand what HD is and what is required.

You can be sure that the Sky customer services people will be the last to know about HD. After all, Sky are being very tight-lipped about the whole thing. I still wouldn't mind betting that the Sky HD offering will fall short of what many people are expecting.

Interestingly I heard from Richer Sounds after a meeting they had with Sky that the HD Sky+ will have 2, 160Gb HDDs and at least one HDMI connection...also, they were hoping to have it ready for the next Premiership season!

Apparently the initial HD content will be one of each of a premium channel (e.g. Sky one), sports channel and a movie channel. There may be a HD Discovery channel and a lot of terrestial TV coming through in HD too...

I wait to be pleasantly surprised...

I wait to see where all this HD content is going to be transmitted. There isn't enough room in the 28.2 slot for very many HD channels.
