Mine is 1001 too .... and I ordered at 8:30am.

The transaction ID ends in 4138 - but am guessing these are not sequential.

1001 - ordered at 8am, so I don't think it indicates your position in the queue.

My Number came up as 1001 at 8:30 a.m. The last 4 digits on my 9 digit transaction ID are 3227. This might be more releveant.

It presumably only matters if you know how Sky allocate the work. Do they have, 10, 100 or even more geographical depots?

I'm hoping that a booking at 8:30 on day 1 puts me high on the list.

Ordered at 11.10 and my last digits on transaction number are 8133. so unless 4000 people have ordered in 1 hr I stil belive you are all barking up the wrong tree.

Did it not occur to you that maybe a Merchant's Reference number was some sort of reference to who the merchant is? ;)

I booked at 9:22 and the last five on mine are 21128. If yours is 13227 then it may suggest thousands of orders have gone in, if not then it may just be random.

Cant see 20000 orders within 2 hours to be honest.

Oooh nooooo..... new customers get priority. Sky can make more out of new customers - think about it.

Maybe not, if your existing contract is up and you are going to cancel then you are a new customer with the dish, cable etc in place.

Yeah, but you still won't be classed as a new customer. Sky's plans are to have a 10 million customer base by 2010, and HD will be a nice way to sign a few new ones up.

    yeah, thats their target.

Most HD suscribers are already going to have Sky+ anyway.

But surely £299 + £10pm is the same whatever package you currently subscribe to. So why would Sky prioritise based on current subs level?

As someone suggested earlier, new customers would give higher return, having to subscribe to a basic package to start with before the £299 + £10pm goes on top.

I would imagine new customers would get priority and then, perhaps, those who DON'T have Sports/Movies as these would be ripe for upgrading. Sadly it's a sign of the times with the "brand new customers only" nonsense.

I have a friend who once read a newspaper with a picture of James Murdoch printed in it, and he (my friend not Murdoch) says only people living in MY street will get the new HD box!
