After having SKY since the inception of digital, I am now moving home. SKY couldn't give me a good deal on HD so I got the deal from Comet £149. I have a few questions;

i) Is there a typical box to avoid, i.e. unreliable, noisey?
ii) As my main telephone box is in another room, could I just run a simple extension cable just for the installation, and then put something more permanent later?

Thanks

Hi there,

i) There is only one make of box at present - Thomson.
ii) Yes, you can run a temporary extension cable and then replace with it with something more permanent later.

Cheers,

Martin.

Hi I am a sky SD subscriber

I guess i can an upgrade via sky or currys .....

I dont really care about SKY HD bcos most of the channels I watch are not in HD so the extra monthly £10 is not a worthwhile investment,

What i however would like to do is test an LCD screen to make sure it handles well with motion .... and compare with my standard Sky SD box.

Do all HD channels Need a subscription ?

There seems to be a few places (satelite shops /ebay ...) selling SkY SD boxes. Is it worthwhile buying a 2nd hand one or there are newer models (i need to be aware off) knocking about ?
If I decide to go via sky install route, should I tell then to re-check signal strength as well change the Lnb ?

I just want to be able to test my LCD screen to make sure its up to standard.
Afterrall most of the channels i watch are not in HD

cheers
