Sky + HD digital output

I listen to a number of the music radio channels from the Sky + HD fed to my
Hi Fi amp via the analogue out.

The output always seems 'harsh' and 'brittle' compared to analogue signals from LP of FM.

Would using one of the Sky digital outputs via a DAC improve the sound?

Why not try them, into the amplifier?
What is DAC, and in this context "LP of FM"?

A DAC is a digital to analogue converter.

Asking if by using the digital output from the Sky box via a DAC to the amp I would get a better less harsh/brittle sound?

The reference to LP and FM were that the signals from the Long Play (LP) records or FM radio gave a much sweeter less harsh/brittle sound.

Perhaps I need to move this to the Hi Fi section but thought that somebody from this forum may have tried it or could give some advice?

Ah, got you now, thanks, that was LP (record) or FM (radio).
There has been some discussion of this in this sub-forum, but it comes down to a matter of personal taste, and is something that the amplifier can usually adjust for.

Why not try the Sky optical output to your amp?

Why not indeed, as I said in post #2: " Why not try them, into the amplifier?"
But on second thoughts doesn't
