Does anyone know if taking up the Sky HD offer will add an additional 12 month contract? How will this work, if I have 10 months remaining on my existing contract when Sky HD is installed?

Also, will it be possible to sell my existing Sky+ box or will this have to be returned to Sky?

I think it will be another 12 months and you will have to sell the Sky + box privately.

Yes it does require you to start a new 12 month contract. I think your box will go back unless you paid for it when you started your Sky+sub inwhich case you own it. you could always have it as a multiroom box.

Obviously i could be wrong about your box, but i'm sure someone more knowledgable on here will correct me

    Hope this helps:thumbsup:

No matter how much you initially payed for Sky+, the box is your property and is yours to do with what you want. Subscribing to Sky HD will involve entering into another 12 month contract for the service.

Here's a quick question for those in the know. I have 2 Sky+ boxes (off 2 dishes) and Sky charge me full package plus multi-room. If I get SkyHD will they charge me again for another multi-room, if I wanted to put my spare box somewhere else in the house?

np. think they'd throw you a free OctoLNB if you did that too.

Also don't forget that's potentially 6 cable feeds that will be required and although Sky have announced that Octo LNBs will be available they haven't announced how these will be implemented, ie, will their installation be prioritised due to the increased costs involved.

From the blurb on the Sky site, it suggests that the new contract will last 12 months, or the length of the current contract if you all ready subscribe to Sky +.

The wording suggests that you have to keep the HD sub going for 12 monts as long as you continue to have any Sky sub.

But it doesn't extend your Sky sub by 12 months, that remains under the original terms.

Ie, you can cancel totally after 10 months, but not just the HD bit.

No. T&Cs state "Minimum Sky HD subscription 12 months unless your Sky digital subscription ends earlier."

So if I cancel Sky HD after a month will I not have to pay anything? Or will I continue to pay the £10 Sky HD sub for another 11 months?

    Sorry being blonde :D

you have 30 days to cancel your contract after the 30 days you are honoured to it eg you pay till end of 12 month period and you will still have to keep your phone connected

I have a basic sky package at the moment and thinking about upgrading to Sky HD.

Is it true that I will not be able to use the sky+ features on the HD box (pause, record etc) unless I take out 2 or more premium packages? If so what will the minimum subscription fee be a month?

    Thanks

Almost right. The standard subscription for Sky+ is £10 pm but if you take out two or more premium channels (in reality this means either choosing Sky Sports Mix or Sky Movies Mix) then this fee is waived.
