Are the components used in each make of sky HD boxes identical, I have been lead to believe on here pace have the best picture processing. Sky are telling me the components are the same in each box.

If all the components are identical there shouldn't be any difference between the boxes SD PQ.

There may be some commonality, but from the pictures I've seen of the various boxes, there are significant differences. The Pace layout is completely different from a Thomson, for example, different power supplies, hard disks etc.

I thought that was the case and what about the picture processing chip in the boxes are they the same.

I know many things ca affect PQ when it comes out to the layout and power supplies.

I don't know, but I haven't heard of any boxes having anything better than the Broadcom chipset, so it's unlikely. There may be RAM and CPU differences though, the later HD boxes are much more responsive than the earlier ones.
