Interesting rumour I heard yesterday .. The Xbox is used to crack Sky Digital ...

The basis for truth is nothing more than urban rumour but behind every rumour theres an element of truth :D

So I wondered if you guys had heard anything ? Does the Xbox even have the capability hook up to the sky box ? Can you use the Box to separatly compile a program to decode the signals ...

Lets grind that rumour mill up :)

im nearly 100% certain that isnt possible. I know quite a lot about xbox hacking and have never heard that. The way it may be possible (although cheating somewhat) is installing linux, then getting a USB SKY decoder and plugging that into a modified controller port. It wouldnt be too hard at all but you may have trouble getting the suport for the decoder box (namely drivers and possibly programs)

That just takes the digibox analogue output and sends it to a PC, doesn't touch the internal digital tuner/decoder of the digibox in anyway so by itself can not decode any SKY encrypted channels from any source.

If you are gonna hack something like Videoguard you need something far more sophisticated than that, NASA probably have just the thing:)
