I was wondering if the PQ of a Sky+ is good enough to watch on a Barco 808s CRT projector on a big screen (2.3 by 1.8 m)
I use a HTPC with H3D II to watch other sources.
Sat I can watch via a hauppage sat card and the PQ was very good on Premiere.
On the Spanish Canal + it is just good.
How does Sky + compare to these stations ?

I watch sky plus on my bg808s most of the time, i use a deuce scaler. I find most anamorphic is very good with most 4.3 good, it all boils down to the quality of the programmes being broadcast. Its not HDTV but we can all live in hope!

Given that Sky Channels range in quality you will find that the channes wil vary quite a lot on the projector. Knowing that though you will find that it is still an enjoyabe experience and worth it.

    Same for Games Consoles...

    So if I understand correctly,
Transmission on most channels is good (= high bitrate, 5 or more Mb/s) , but PQ is dependent on the quality of the content (garbage in = garbage out).

So the moviechannels with recent films have good PQ (like TV1000 or Premiere)

The movie channels are i think better than tv 1000 and premier as they are mostly broadcast in anamorphic widescreen. I think rubish in rubish out isnt far off the mark although a scaler will clean up the picture a bit. I dont think anything is totaly not watchable, i'd rather see a bad picture on my pj than watch a little telly with a bad picture

Do it, sounds like you are not watching your PJ enough.
SKY+ should be OK but not DVD (well better than some DVD'S)
