After the flurry of advertising some months ago what has happened to the Sky Gnome ? It was supposed to be on sale in October, only a few weeks away, yet there appears to be no further updates on the progress. I would have expected pricing and pre-ordering to be around by now.
Anyone with inside information to share ?

    Thanks,

    John8

I did some market research for Sky recently where I was part of a customer group asked to test and give opinions on the gnome....actually at the time they hadn't even decided on the name so we were asked to give feedback on a variety of names....personally I didn't like the name gnome but the device itself was very nice. What I liked about is the fact that it is not only a radio but obviously also has the sound from regular tv channels....so you can keep track of the footy even when you are in another room.

Briliiant idea. I would buy one.

Skys PR once again fails to let me know such a device even exists.

Its gone really quiet on this, no info on the Sky website - other than to tell you what it is and to take your details to tell you when he's being released. Googled it as well and there seems no further news since it was announced in Aug.

    Strange

There's an add for it again in the new Sky mag. But no extra news as when.

Sky have just announced that the Gnome will be priced at £69.99 and will be available during October.

If I've understood the publicity correctly, if I get one, I can listen to the radio channels, wire free from anywhere in the house, including TV sound and remote control the Skybox to change channel when I want too.

If so, it's brilliant and I can hardly wait.

I guess this has been asked before, but if you have Sky+ can you use this to listen to the audio from one channel, while watching another on your TV?

    No.

I don't understand how you will use it to listen to anything from your personal planner......but - the Sky+ records the signal through one of its dual tuners - it then puts it through the single decoder to allow you to watch it or listen to it.

Still only one decoder. And you have to us that for live and recorded content.

So - I think you can sfely say that you won't be able to watch Satellite TV and listen to Radio at the sme time.

    (You could watch Terrestrial TV......)

Watching terrestrial no use for my purposes (sport) due to the time lag plus no sport on terrestrial!

If this gnome thing could do the job it would be a handly little space saver. However I have it covered by way of another cable from the LNB to another digibox and telly in the same room. A cumbersome solution but should work.
