i have linked up my old sky box upstairs to the satellite dish to try and watch the free to view channels in the bedroom- as easier than getting new didgital aerial-

do i need a viewing sky card? if so how can i get one without going through ebay- as they may not work after a while...??

You will miss out on your correct ITV Region, Channel 4 and Channel 5 on the EPG without the viewing card. However, the FTA versions of Channel 4 and Channel 5 can both be added using the other channels option on a Sky box.

    Access services
    System setup
    Add other channels option.

    CHANNEL 4 - 10.714 H 22 FEC 5/6.
    CHANNEL 5 - 10.773 H 22 FEC 5/6

Without the card you will not get Fiver of FiveUS which are FTV.
As said you can get the card from Sky by phoning 08448 244 400 for less than £20.

With a viewing card you will also be able to order a Setanta satellite subscription.
