Well here goes,i wanted to record:
    Supervolcano-9pm to 10pm BBC1
Fool around with..-10pm to 10.30pm E4 (on series link which i forgot about)

while the Mrs watched Wire in the blood-9pm to 10.30pm ITV.

Then we watched Fool around with...

Then to my horror Supervolcano FAILED

Was it because the programmes did'nt cross over properly at 10pm and ITV was being viewed at the time?. I have it set to automatic.

Hope i've explained it ok, any ideas?
    Thanks Dave.

Who knows with Sky+. It seems to fail recordings at random. It is well annoying when it happens though.

I get the odd failed recording too. Seems pretty random as Greghook says.

    Doesn't happen that often thankfully.

It depends on how you have the box set up. Most people have the box set so that it starts recording 4 minutes before the programme starts, and then adds 4 minutes to the end. If your box is set like this, or if the programme timings weren't exactly right, then effectively you were trying to record two programmes whilst watching another, which can't be done.

    Hi Nick UK,

The box was set for automatic. Did have it set for 1 and 2 mins but sometimes i missed the end of a show.
Any ideas how automatic works??? (does it just switch off when it can be asked) :(

"Automatic" mode adds 4 minutes to the start & finish. I think you can manually set the over-run times, but you risk missing the start or finish if a programme isn't on time and you have no over-run.
