I have just picked up my sky + box from dixons which is currently in the back of the wifes car .While I wait for her to bring it home has anyone conected the box up themselves as a tempoary measure whilst waiting for the sky instalation . I was thinking of conecting it up to one of the two tuners just so as I could use it . My old PACE box is very tired and turns itself of at will.

    That's not a problem.
Just connect your existing LNB to Input 1, connect then phone line and insert your existing card in the bottom slot then go into the service menu. SERVICES-4-0-1-SELECT

Goto "New Installation" and follow the instructions, the box will then dialout and activate your card this allows SKY+ to act as a standard digibox.

Starburst thanx for the info , however I phoned Sky direct before reading your reply . They told me that if I even took the Sky + out of its box let alone installed it they would invalidaty any waranty . They must be mad . Things got worse my install that was booked for the 23rd was put back to the 5th of November without so much as a phone call . After much arguing I got an instalation date for the 14th of October . My opinion of Sky has been dented some what .

Well they screwed me around with the first install so I had a local independent change my LNB and lay the cables all for £35.
A few minutes with the menus and you are away
The box has a years warranty from currys, as long as you don't break any seals you are fine same with the LNB. They could only refuse repair/service if they could prove negligance on your part( putting 240 volts into the LNB for instance)
