sky digital problem

Sunday morning - no sat at all now  - clock stuck at 4:18 in the morning, signal quality indicator now zero :( ....

Will try a reboot but I'm sure getting p****d off with this!!!!

Cancel your subscription, i have had this problem for months it only gets worse. I did forced download, software update which seems so have killed my box. What is the point paying for something you are not getting what a waste of £30+ QUID!!! I have cancelled mine mainly because i am sick of being held at ransom by SKY, i may go to a specialist shop and get a different system in pay a yearly subscription [around £240]and get hundreds of additional channels. Anyone agree...

Martian, I am begining to agree with your point of view! :D

If independent engineer says nothing wrong with my system will definately be waving goodbye to c**p Sky!!

We shall see Tuesday... :)

Martian, can you tell me what different systems you are refering to, and typical costs? I would be interested in having options, should Sky try and mess me around further. Thanks.

I will have to call in to shop to find out exactly what costs are, I was told about other option to sky by a guy in hi-fi store. He said he got that sick of sky he switched systems and now receives hundreds of other channels as "well as sky" some of them are good quality porn channels, Dutch or something. I am not that bothered about this aspect but if you are paying a fortune to tele x etc this would be a bonus as well... Anyway if sky dont sort themselves out they are going to lose themselves a lot of custom.

have just talked to sky they now say that
there was a problem but it was put right by the end of june and that any problems that
we have are hardware . told them to stick it
where the sun dont shine . have email bbc watchdog it would be good if everyone does the same

gaffa

Martian, any more info on the alternatives to Sky, and are they digital?

I've had the usual problems with my (Grundig) Digibox behaving strangely since the new EPG software was downloaded to it. I have forced downloads to try and ensure I've got the latest version, and it all seems to have settled down again now. However, I have one remaining problem - the SCART control on the Digibox is no longer working. I've checked the cable and TV and the fault isn't with either of those, and it is still enabled in the set-up menu. Is this just a coincidence, or is it related to the software problems? Has anybody else experienced anything similar? Having to switch manually between 16:9 and 4:3 every time is a real irritation!

a few times in the past my 16 switching stoped working . it just started working again after a while

i hav'nt noticed any frezing over the past few days . my sat did turn it's self off last night though .

i hope they have got it sorted now . they could be just talking b*****Ks again though . i meen why change the habit of a lifetime :(

I spoke with Gareth Martin (Manager, Advanced Tech. Dept.) again yesterday as I am still having probs with my digibox since the new EPG download. He informed me that Sky believe they have found a patch for the new EPG software. Apparently, they have downloaded to Panasonic boxes first, next will be Pace, and so on. He told me that hopefully my Amstrad box will be fixed by the end of next week. New EPG version will end with BB9 (currently BB5).Sounds too simple to me. By the way, martian, any news on the alternatives to Sky.
