    On the back of my sky digibox there is a serial port, what can this be used for?

    Ive wanted to know for years

    It's primary use is for testing/diagnostics on the assembly line, there is no official use in the domestic setting. In that regard it's as useful as the digital interface but at least that has had some rumoured uses:)

    About the digital interface?

    There has been a long running persistent rumour that PACE developed an addon board to allow standard digiboxes to access and output DD audio.
    I also chatted to a guy on ICQ (I used to play QW with him back in the day) and he was talking about a gaming orientated interface also by PACE that used the digital connection.

    Not having seen any of these in the flesh I suppose I am just adding to the rumours:)

    I have however read the odd webpage which listed various experiments in controlling limited aspects of the digibox (channel changing etc) via a serial link and a PC.
