Apologies if this has been discussed before, but several searches through the archives failed to bring it up...

Is it possible to get a Sky+ digibox without also going for the new LNB and the extra subscription charges?

And if it is possible, would it actually be technically worthwhile? Does the 5.1 capability work even without the extra sub or is it turned on specially by Sky only after payment?

What about the HD recording facility? Is that workable even without the extra sub?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bert Coules,
It is possible to obtain a Skyplus+ with quad LNB, if you fit it yourself, you don't have to add the £10 monthly subscription, without paying, the Skyplus+ will function as a normal digibox.
It will not allow recording at all.
    The 5.1 output will work.
Pay the monthly £10, a fully operable Skyplus+ is fantastic.
