Help! My sky+ box has just decided to die.

Earlier this evening while watching my star wars dvds  i noticed the sky box was making some strange noises...a bit like the fan was catching slightly.didnt thing anything of it as was working and watched a bit of tv...

That was until i pressed the sky+ button... it did the usual crash black screen....

Unplugged for 60 seconds...replugged in... and now every minute or so it makes two sort of grinding noises and stops then does it again and again ...

I have a feeling the drive has died. The box is only about 1 1/2 years old but is has had a hard life (girlfriend watches all the soaps!)

Any help would be great. If the drive has gone how do I put in a bigger one

    Thanks

Sounds like your hard drive has died.

Go out and buy yourself a 120gb HD and put that in. Take out the old Maxtor and check the serial on Maxtors website to see if its under warranty. If it is send it back and they will post you a new one.

to format a new drive, all you do is go into the engineers menu and do a full system reset, this formats the drive for sky+

    see here for more info
