    Hi,

Having a problem with my sky+ hopefull someone can assist....

When watching a movie in DD every so often (this can vary from every 30 seconds to every 5 minutes) the sound drops out for about 1/2 second. This would *appear* to be linked to the Input 1 signal strength varying - it starts at ~90% then drops for 1/2 second to ~80% then backup to ~90%. I can't tell for sure because the sound obiviously stops when going into the service mode, but it seems too much of coincidence for them not to be linked.

Any ideas what I can do about this, is it a call to SKY?

    The other signal strengths are:
    Input 1 signal strength 80%
Input 1 signal quality 90% (as above dropping to 80% then backup to 90%)
    Input 2 signal strength 60%
    Input 2 signal quality 90%

it's a pace v2 box - i've had a fiddle and switching off the live TV caching seems to have helped, i'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Hello, I'm new here and to Sky+. I'm having exactly the same problem with DD. My box is a Pace V3. I watched a couple of 5.1 movies live last weekend with no problems, but when I watched Harry Potter yesterday that I'd recorded from Sarurday, I got broken sound. When I rewind, the drop in sound is in exactly the same place, therefore not a bad connection to the amp.

If someone could suggest something, I'd be very grateful.

That's reassuring. I had turned off my auto rewind, thinking that the hard disk was not coping. But I'll turn it confidently back on now. (I, as well, only recorded HP3 for my girlfriend, what else?)

I've switched off the live pause thing (where it stores xx minutes) - not had a problem since, but I didn't watch the potter film.

Instead of talking about what is "over on Sky 1" over the end titles why can`t Sky say if there has been a sound problem, so we won`t be worrying about our gear? I see the Beeb are talking over end titles on films as well now, I would have thought they would know better.

Maybe they didn't know ? May only have been a brief "glitch" in the encoder ?

Yes I have had the same problem with Sky movies one and also the Disney channel. Both with frequent sound drop outs.(My grandaughter is frequently tuned to Disney she likes Lizzie Maguire )It is very annoying sound being lost quite frequently. My grandaughter jokingly says she can lip read.I get a bit fed up and would rather change to any other channel with OK sound its really annoying.

Very much so. If you're thinking about connecting the Sky+160 with an optical cable, don't go there. The boxes have a known problem with the sound which has been going on for about a year now. If you want a bigger drive, put one in the V2 box - a 160GB drive only costs about £50.

I have the same problem, sky have admitted the fault and are working on a software update fix (some time this century) !!! Asking sky for 33% reduction in my subscription until this is resolved, not being able to watch a movie in DD on Sky 1, 2 or 3 is ridiculous!!

Exactly the same problem with my Pace V2, looked over at the ds forums and someone there mentioned that he had contacted Sky. They told him it's a known issue with Disney Channel & +1, no mention of the Sky movie channels.
Think I'm gonna ring Sky and have a moan, what's the point of having DD sound and having these sound dropouts all the time..........really annoying
Also has anyone noticed that the fan makes a lot of noise on the Pace V2..............or is it just my box
